Teletask Inc. has joined the Solen Software Group portfolio through a long-term investment partnership. Teletask builds the two-way messaging platform that WIC and public health agencies use to reach families by text, voice and email.
The company supports agencies serving more than three million WIC participants. Its platform is built for one job that sits at the heart of public health work: making sure a family hears from its agency at the right moment, and can reply.
WIC, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, is a federal program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It reaches families through state agencies and local clinics, and staying enrolled involves regular contact with the local agency, from appointments to paperwork.
Teletask gives those agencies one place to manage that contact. Staff can text participants and receive replies, send appointment reminders by text message, and run voice and email campaigns. The same platform handles scheduling, web surveys, document upload and e-signature, so a family can confirm an appointment, answer a question or return a form from a phone.
Everything runs over standard SMS. Participants use the phone they already have, with no app to download, which keeps the barrier to a reply as low as it can be.
Beyond WIC, Teletask works with state and local public health departments and immunization programs across the country, in one of the most compliance-sensitive areas of public health technology.
Norm Rees founded Teletask in 1989 to build inbound voice and automated dialing systems for large organizations and government agencies. Brian Rees joined in 2014 and led the move to a SaaS client engagement platform.
That shift turned Teletask into a national provider. Today the company supports agencies in more than 35 states and delivers more than 100 million messages a year.
"We chose Solen because we wanted a long-term partner for Teletask. Solen has the backing to invest in our product and our team. We want decisions to stay close to the people who know our customers, and we want to keep improving what we've built," said Brian Rees, CEO of Teletask.
"Teletask has already reinvented itself once. Norm built the company on voice and automated dialing, and Brian led its move to a modern SaaS platform while keeping public agencies at the center of the business. A team that can make that shift and keep its customers close is a team we want to partner with for decades," said Will Nouse, Director of M&A at Solen Software Group.
Teletask will continue to operate with autonomy. Solen provides permanent capital and optional shared services, so the Teletask team can stay focused on the agencies and families it serves and on continued development of the platform.
